Susie's News

Susie Lowe, also known as our "Rider Mom" will be publishing her monthly news letter with great news and links for VA, DD 214 and other beneficial information. We look forward to having her as part of the team.
I want to thank the Legion Riders 251 for allowing me to be a part of your family. I hope I can live up to your expectations. Just a little about the Newsletter I publish, it's called The Veterans Gazette. I distribute to 5 veteran locations in Lycoming County. I do this all on my own (with help of my husband) so that veterans of all branches can get the latest information available to them. So look for copies at Montgomery, Muncy, Montoursville Legions, Muncy VFW and the 40/8 in Williamsport.  I will not be publishing the entire Gazette on this page, just valuable information I feel needs to get out to the veterans of Legion Riders 251.  Thanks again.

Persian Gulf Bonus
The Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans' Benefit Program became effective on April 4, 2008.
This program allows dor compensation to be paid to eligible service members (current & former) as well as certain surviving relatives of deceased veterans of the persian Gulf Conflict Theater.
Applications may be submitted up to August 31, 2015. In order to find out eligibility criteria, etc. you may go to www.milvet.state.pa.us/DMVA/2564.htm.
I have a copy of the application and brochure Digest and Explanation Act 29 of 2006 Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans' Benefit Program. I will make you a copy of both, if interested.

DD-214s Accessible On-Line

National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) is making it easier for veterans with computers and internet access to obtain copies of their military documents. Military veterans and the next of kin of deceased military members may use a new online military personnel records system to request documents, including DD-214s.

Such access is helpful when a veteran needs a copy for employment purposes. Other individuals needing documentsmust still complete the Standard Form 180, which can be down-loaded on-line.   Requesters must supply all information essential for NRPC to process the request, delays occur when NPRC has to ask for additional information.
